Opportunities to Serve

Acolytes

Acolytes

led by Mike Luger

The work of an acolyte is to serve the congregation by helping the worship service to flow smoothly. They assist the Priest and Deacons during the Sunday Service and other liturgies. Young people who are active in Church and in grades 2 – 12 are eligible to be acolytes. Acolytes typically serve one Sunday a month.
Lay Readers

Lay Readers

led by Deacon Bill

Lectors read the old testament and new testament readings during the worship services. Lectors need to have a strong voice that carries, and must be able to read scripture aloud, in front of the congregation. Lectors may be called to read at special services and other events.

Greeters

Greeters

led by Cathy Hughes

Our Greeters engage in the ministry of hospitality. Greeters meet people coming to worship, and help visitors and newcomers to feel welcome and comfortable with our worship service. They also provide guidance to visitors to help them acclimate to our facility, providing directions to places like the restroom, nursery, or parish hall. The goal of the greeters is to help people feel welcome in hopes that they will have a great experience and return.
Ushers

Ushers

led by Deacon Bill

An usher assists parishioners and visitors to their seats during worship services and special events. Ushers are the lay ministers who are present with and help to coordinate the congregation during the preparation and celebration of the Eucharist. They bring forward the elements of the Eucharist to the altar, and collect the offering and present it at the altar. During the Holy Eucharist, an usher helps direct the congregation to the altar rail in an orderly fashion.
Altar Guild

Altar Guild

led by Julia Duschene

The Altar Guild is responsible for the preparation of the Altar for worship following the liturgical seasons and any requirements for special services such as baptisms, weddings, or funerals. Teams of two people or more serve one weekend a month setting up and cleaning up the Altar. The Guild meets two times a year for planning, fellowship and prayer.
Coffee Hour

Coffee Hour

led by Alan and Carla Greenspan

Our coffee hour is held every Sunday following the 10:00 a.m. service in the parish hall. Coffee Hour volunteers provide a warm and inviting area for all parishioners to come and fellowship with one another while sampling some delicious food. Volunteers work together on teams to provide food, drinks, and creamer. They make sure the coffee is made, and the food is set out for people to enjoy as soon as the worship service is over, and ensure the parish hall is cleaned up afterward.
Choir

Choir

led by Kristin McCabe

Anyone who loves to sing is welcome to join the choir! The Celebration Choir sings at the 8:00 a.m. service, and rehearses directly after that service. The 10:00 a.m. choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The Angel Choir (for children K-8) rehearses following the 10:00 a.m. service. You can also speak with Kristin if you have an interest in singing or playing with our 10:00 a.m. worship team.
Healing Prayer

Healing Prayer

led by Deacon Lynne

Healing is a gift that Jesus taught us as He ministered during His lifetime. Passed down apostolically, the healing prayer ministry at Christ Church exists as a continuation of the ministry of Jesus Christ. Involvement in this ministry requires training. With that in mind, you are invited to become a part of our healing ministry.
